IS TITHING FOR TODAY?

It seems when you want to talk about what the Bible says about giving 

there is always one or more who come back with the argument that we are 

not under the law of Moses. Even if your letter states that you already 

know that, it is still used as the rebuttal.

 
Never, not one time, is there any personal testimony about giving from 

these disputers, giving God the glory about His faithfulness. Never, not 

one time, is there any encourgement to give according to the vast amount 

of promises in the New Testament about blessings that come as a result.

 
Hebrews, chapter 7, the entire chapter is about tithing. It clearly states 

that we are not under the law of Moses. That law was abolished at Calvary. 

What they do not understand and do not teach is that we are under a new 

Priesthood, the Melchesidek Priesthood of Jesus. This is what Hebrews, 

chapter 7, explains in detail. It also clearly says:

 
Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning 

of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest 

continually.

  
 
Now consider how great this man [was], unto whom even the patriarch Abraham 

gave the tenth of the spoils. 

 
 
And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the 

priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the 

law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:  
 
But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and 

blessed him that had the promises. 

 
 
And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.  
 
And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it 

is witnessed that he liveth. (Hebrews 7:3-8)

 
The very last verse tells us that Jesus still lives and receives our tithes 

in heaven. Agreeing with His statement in Matthew:

 
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust 

doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: (Matthew 6:20)

 
It's no wonder that it needs to be taught. It's no wonder that to teach New 

Testament tithing is to open yourself up to the severest of persecution, 

misinterpretation and misunderstanding.

 
It's no wonder that "covetousness" is mentioned no less than 8 times in the 

New Testament. 

It's no wonder that the last church mentioned in Revelation is the Laodicean 

church, a church rich and increased with goods but in reality wretched and 

miserable and poor and blind and naked.

 
I have seen so many Christians deeply in debt and overwhelmed with bills. 

Their businesses are going through the same recession as the rest of the country 

and checks written to them bounce, causing them to bounce checks and miss their 

credit payments. Living in the credit system of bondage and slavery.
 
This is not the abundant life that Jesus has for us today. He wants us to tithe 

into His Kingdom so that He can open up the windows of heaven and pour us out 

blessings (Spiritually, physically and financially) that we can't contain.

 
Don't ever be a God robber. Trust Him and most of all, trust Him by giving to 

Him your first fruits and believe for the abundance that He promises in His Word.
