Listen to this: BOUNTIFUL GIVING requires OBEDIENCE, by FAITH! Giving SPARINGLY requires UNBELIEF! A widow gave 2 mites and it was all that she had. She WAS BLESSED and a MEMORIAL was written about her!

Do you know that in your Bible, in the New Testament, there are two words mentioned concerning SOME in the Body of Christ - COVETOUS and COVETOUSNESS? Do you know that these are sins and sin brings a curse? Look at the paragraph at the end for the definition of these two words.

Concerning COVETOUS Christians, here are the scriptures from the New Testament:

Luk 16:14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

1Cr 5:10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

1Cr 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

1Cr 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Eph 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

1Ti 3:3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

2Pe 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; CURSED children:

DID YOU HEAR WHAT PETER SAID IN VERSE 14? CURSED CHILDREN!! Under a curse because of covetousness!

Now look at the Word COVETOUSNESS from the New Testament:

Mark 7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

Romans 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

2Cr 9:5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as [a matter of] bounty, and not as [of] covetousness.

Eph 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Col 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

1Th 2:5 For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God [is] witness:

Hebrews 13:5 [Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

2Peter 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Let's look at the word COVETOUS and COVETOUSNESS from Mirriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary:

1 : marked by inordinate desire for wealth or possessions or for another's possessions

2 : having a craving for possession
- cov.et.ous.ly adverb
- cov.et.ous.ness noun
synonyms COVETOUS, GREEDY, ACQUISITIVE, GRASPING, AVARICIOUS mean having or showing a strong desire for especially material possessions. COVETOUS implies inordinate desire often for another's possessions . GREEDY stresses lack of restraint and often of discrimination in desire . ACQUISITIVE implies both eagerness to possess and ability to acquire and keep . GRASPING adds to COVETOUS and GREEDY an implication of selfishness and often suggests unfair or ruthless means . AVARICIOUS implies obsessive acquisitiveness especially of money and strongly suggests stinginess.

How many verses were written concerning this important truth - in the New Testament!

What we do or DON"T DO with our money and possessions is a great concern to God and His Kingdom both now and when we stand before Him. It is better to get it understood now, as NOW we have the chance to REPENT and do it right before the Rapture or our death.
